| Dwi’n artist sy’n cael fy ysbrydoli gan y tirweddau o’m cwmpas. Does dim byd yn well gen i nag eistedd mewn rhyw fan gwyllt a thawel gyda llyfr braslunio yn fy llaw, gan gofnodi ar bapur fy nghysylltiad â’r amgylchedd. Dwi wrth fy modd â’r teimlad o fod wedi fy ngwreiddio yn y llefydd gwyllt hyn heb ymyrraeth y byd prysur rydyn ni’n byw ynddo. Dwi’n mynd â’r brasluniau bras hyn yn ôl i’r stiwdio ac yn gweithio oddi wrthyn nhw. Yno dwi’n adeiladu haenau o baent a marciau ar baneli pren nes i mi deimlo fy mod i wedi cyfleu’r teimlad hwnnw o fod yn yr awyr agored. Mae fy mhaentiadau’n cynnig cymysgedd o haniaeth a realaeth i’r gwyliwr, gyda gwahoddiad i rannu fy nghysylltiad â’r dirwedd. I am an artist inspired by the landscapes around me. I love nothing more than to sit somewhere wild and quiet with a sketchbook capturing on paper my connection with the environment. I love the feeling of being rooted within these wild places without the intrusion of the busy world we live in. I take these rough sketches back to the studio and work from them, building layers of paint and marks on wooden panels until I feel I’ve conveyed that feeling of being outdoors. My paintings offer the viewer a mix of abstraction and realism with an invitation to share my connection with the landscape. |
